Welcome! Bienvenido! Willkommen!
The very first impression of your home is made at your front door. This is where visitors will draw conclusions about what lies inside. It’s a fun spot to let your personality shine and stand out from the rest of the neighborhood. It will become a directional cue and set you apart from your neighbors, for example.. “It’s the white house with the RED door on the corner.”
Every color has a psychological meaning behind it. So, what does your door say about you? Is it bright and bold? Is it full of quirk and whimsy? Is it timeless and traditional? Is it calm and soothing? These are all qualities that will become your trademark when you take a paintbrush to your entryway.
Since we mentioned red, let’s start there. Red is a classic, in many countries it is a sign of welcoming and comfort. Red adds a bold touch to the neutral tones, compliments landscaping, and acts as a statement. If you have a red door, you may be a risk taker, not one to turn down a festive party, and full of passion.

Directly opposite of it’s passionate friend, blue and green doors represent a calm entry. Blue and green tones are known as peaceful colors. Those more tranquil doors may have owners that love traveling to the beach, quiet movie nights at home, and working in a community garden.

Bright like sunshine, positive, peppy.. YELLOW.
This color makes me want to listen to Jack Johnson in my Ray Bans with a sweating glass of lemonade. Tell me you can’t look at yellow and smile? I imagine the homeowners are always happy and carefree.. how could they not be?

Classic, sophisticated, elegant Black.
Black is becoming more popular with the modern farmhouse style. Black represents control and consistency. It oozes a modern vibe and adds bold contrast to surrounding green space.

Clean and pure, White
You can’t go wrong with a traditional white door. I can only imagine the interior is as pristine and clean as the blanco entry. Adding pops of color is easy on a white door so homeowners can have fun with wreaths, seasonally. If you have a white door you may be organized, appreciate minimalism, and keep a tidy home.

It’s fun to speculate about the personalities behind an accented door but no matter the hue of your front door, the psychology of color is a huge part of interior design. Sure, colors need to compliment each other but more importantly, they need to represent YOU. Do you like to read in a coffee shop, vacation on Lake Michigan, or explore the Grand Canyon? It may be a funny question to ask when you are just looking to update your living room but those tidbits of information help designers get to know you and how you live. Based on your responses, we are able to help design a room based around your likes and dislikes. And, believe it or not, each of those responses have colors associated with them.
